Operating system hides technicality from applications.

The operating system hides the complex computer technicality from the application software and this greatly simplifies writing applications. The operating system also manages the computer hardware and software resources such as the CPU, memory, and secondary-storage files. The most common operating systems are the Windows family, the UNIX family, and the Macintosh family. An operating system is composed of subsystems where each subsystem is responsible for performing a specific task. Main tasks are as shown.
