Most programs are proprietary software meaning that software manufacturers own those programs and people should pay to acquire copies they can use. It should be emphasized that you do not pay to own but to get a license that allows you to use the program. You are not allowed to make copies of proprietary program except as backups in case the original is damaged. Shareware programs are programs that are put available but with parts of their capabilities removed. People can use them for a limited period of time at no cost. Sometimes people are expected to contribute a nominal fee to the software publisher. People pay much more if they decide to continue using the programs after upgrading them to their full capabilities. Freeware programs can be used at no cost and with no restrictions.
